Project EVO characters start out at level 5. Characters classes are based on classes found in the d20 Modern core rules book. The GM reserves the right to make changes as necessary.
Statistics
Statistics are purchased with points. Each player may assign 75 points to his character's statistics, dividing them up as desired at 1-for-1. No statistic should be below 3 or above 18. Exceptions are made if you choose a Template that gives bonuses to statistics.
World of Origin
You're on Earth. The year is 2013. The Country? The Good 'ole U S of A! You're just a guy or gal working the grind, doing your thing. Day in and day out. Livin' the American Dream!
Occupations/Hobbies Templates
Everyone is good at something and you're no different. Are you a Nurse? A Firefighter? Maybe you're a Store Clerk, Cheerleader or a Mechanic? Or maybe you're just good at being bad like Criminal of some sorts? Either way, adding an occupation/hobby template can spice things up. Templates go from +1 to +3 and maximum of +5. This means that if you are a 5th level Fast Hero and you take the +5 Mechanic template, then your ECL (Effective Character Level) is now 10. You gain XP as a level 5 character but you level like a level 10 character, meaning it takes 10,000XP to get you to level 6 and 11,000XP to get you to level 7, etc.)
You may take more than one template to the maximum of 3 templates (Please try and have them make sense and try and incorporate them into your back story). You get ONE +3 template FOR FREE. It does NOT count against your ECL. Template ECLs can equal no more than +3 TOTAL (example: +1, +2 = +3 OR +1, +1, +1 = +3) which would give an absolute maximum starting ECL of level 8 (5 + 3). And no template may be taken twice.
There is currently a list of 20+ Occupation/Hobby Templates available. Have an idea for something not found on the list? Let me know and we can work something up. No biggie. The Occupation/Hobby Templates care be found HERE.
Prestige Classes
Prestige classes can be taken later and are in addition to occupations/hobby templates. Any skill/feat overlap can be discussed with the GM and worked out.
Action Points
Characters gain 1 Action Point per level to add to their Action Pool (Level 5 = 5 Action Points). This pool refreshes every game. Action Point mechanics work exactly like in the core book minus that the fact that Action Points are now 2 d6 per Point - period. They do not increase to d8, d10, d12, etc. Action points may not be spent on Statistics checks (i.e. Strength checks, Intelligence checks, etc.)
Leveling
It takes 1,000XP times your level to get to the next level (Level 2 requires 2,000XP to get to level 3, level 14 requires 14,000XP to get to level 15, etc.) Levels 1 - 9: Characters gain 500XP times their level, per game. Levels 10 - 20: Characters gain 5,000XP per game. Once a character reaches level 20, they need to see the GM before any further leveling may take place.
Focus Skills
Focus skills are skills in which your character is a true prodigy, able to surpass the boundaries and limitations most have. They are uncapped and you are automatically proficient in the focus skill you choose. Each character my choose ONE focus skill at no charge.
